Critical Services in a Conflict Zone
Agility supplied more than a million meals a day for U.S. troops and contractors under a first-of-its-kind subsistence contract that required the company to construct temperature-controlled warehouses, source all foods, and buy and operate its own fleet of nearly 1,000 refrigerated trucks. The company achieved a 98%+ fill rate over the seven-year life of the contracts.
At the same time, the company began offering specialized logistics services such as secure storage and distribution for the Middle East and Southwest Asia. It managed specialized cargo and transportation in the region, and acquired a 237-acre storage facility for aviation and maritime fuel on Guam.
Agility added to DGS’s capabilities through the acquisition of US-based Matrix International, a freight forwarder, and Taos, a company cleared to manage secure facilities.
UK Partnership
After being established as a public-sector and defense business, Agility DGS became the sole provider of household relocation services for UK MoD personnel. It manages more than 30,000 shipments annually and provides additional services such as heavy lift and cargo movements for the UK MoD under the ministry’s Logistics Commodities and Services Transformation program.
Separately, DGS has partnered with UK forces to sell, dispose of or redeploy goods from Afghanistan and scrap from the Falklands Islands. It has worked with the MoD and allied defence ministries in Europe on transportation and cargo movements to Eastern Europe for peacetime exercises and in support of Ukraine. It collects, stores and sells aircraft and aviation parts for the UK MoD under another contract.
Emerging Markets Leader
One of the things that made GIL different was its ability to help customers unlock high-growth emerging markets in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America. GIL invested in emerging markets infrastructure, introduced third-party logistics and valued-added services, forged strong local relationships, and responded quickly to help customers navigate changing market conditions.
GIL offered access to fast-growing markets without the risk and capital outlay typically associated with them. Its client roster grew to include the world’s biggest multi-nationals – brands such as Siemens, GE, P&G, Daimler, Aramco, Nestle and Samsung – and more than 50,000 small and medium-sized companies.
Indispensable Partner in Africa and Beyond
Agility DGS and Agility subsidiary, Alliad, have managed successful deliveries of food and beverages for peacekeepers across 57 locations in two East African countries. The $80 million contract for an international institution required construction and renovation of two warehouses, along with warehouse management services.
In West Africa, DGS has supported US exercises by providing 30,000 square feet of temperature-controlled warehousing space in Ghana. Elsewhere in the West Africa, it has provided logistics support for peacekeeping missions, vessel chartering, and transportation, security, customs clearance and other services in support of convoys.
Elsewhere, U.S. Transcom has called on DGS for cargo preparation, documentation, loading/unloading, air charters and escort services to Europe, South/Central America, the Caribbean and other destinations.
