Shipping off-size equipment from Romania to Russia requires creative solutions

A global supplier for the oil and gas industry engaged Agility to ship several exchange heaters from Brasov, Romania, to Vladivostok, Russia. We needed special equipment to handle 36 items of various dimensions. After calculating the best options for cost and transit time, we decided to use a 10’ x 40’ flat rack and 6’ x 40’ dry van containers. We hit a snag when shipping lines did not accept one item filled with nitrogen, so we emptied the container by releasing nitrogen gas into the atmosphere. We continued trucking the rest of the loads more than 10,000 kilometers from a Brasov warehouse to the Port of Constanta on the Black Sea. We secured the cargo, handled customs and completed our successful shipment to Russia.
